Wish I had different thoughts at one time...

In my last posting I commented on how much I hated all cops because of two shady investigators who mishandled my rape case, and in large part the rapist got free because of them. Well, some time has gone by now and I've had time to rethink this subject. These are the thoughts I currently have:
Although I got to understand how this mindset of mine came to be because of this experience, it also now makes me somewhat sad I had these beliefs that encompased a whole group. There are many police officers who go to work and deal with the characteristicly darkest of people for years, put their lives in danger to protect the community, teach drug abstinance classes to underage kids and teens, and sometimes don't know if they'll be able to go home and see their family again for something out there might take their lives (I guess there is a high percentile of cops in Texas who are homicided against). Also, I just read many of you come down with some form of PTSD in your lives - have to see and experience major things for that to occur. Furthermore, the other day I also witnessed this awesome display of bravery when police officers put their own lives on the line recently in my home city to save a three-year-old child from adults who put its life in danger.....how can I dislike a whole group when some officers would put their own lives in major jeapordy to save the innocent.... .
Anyways, I'm just glad to be gaining perspective again and seeing how not only are many of the police force a use to a community, but perhaps an asset as well. There are good, bad, and those falling in-between in every group or profession and the police officers are no exception to this rule.
Want to give my "Thank You's" to "Sledge", "Vinman", and "Pooky" for what you wrote to me in my previous thread. Really appreciated not being judged by the three of you, and giving me things to think about as well. It's not an enjoyable experience to feel hatred for any group, and you guys gave me something to ponder over. I also have come to believe once again many of you do jobs the average citizen couldn't begin to stomach or even fathom for that matter... .

To Darkeyes, --- and All Others Who Have Faced Similar to what she had faced,

MOST PROFOUNDLY, I appreciate your thoughts in your most recent posting concerning the situation. I have worked with and been friends with hosts of LEOs during my lifetime, some are good, some are not so good, but these people are found in virtually all professional areas, no matter what area it is --- there are good doctors as well as "quacks" --- there are good attorneys as well as bad ones, there are good preachers and not so good preachers, and there are good pot/dish-washers in restaurants as well as not good ones, and, good janitors as well as not good janitors. And, then, JUST BECAUSE you have had experienced with one of the "not so good cops" in your life, does not mean that virtually all cops are, then, bad ones at all.

So, I truly appreciate your new perspective on the members of Law Enforcement via your latest posting.

Thanks, again,
Chappy
