During my over 50 years that I have been involved with members of Law Enforcement, I have lots of incidents to remember --- and, most of them I remember as wonderful experiences. One of the MOST WONDERFUL experieces follow now ------- Many years past, during the time when I had relocated to Western Pennsylvania, due to my relationship with the town's police department, since they knew when my DOB was, here is what occurred one year ON my DOB. While I was doing nothing particular at home, a knock came on my door, and, upon opening it, two of the town's police officers were there. Then, they hand-cuffed me, arresting me for something that neither of them told me that I was being charged with, so, of course, I had to go along with them to Headquarters. When we got to Headquarters, after the booking-in procedures, they took me to the Police Department's Banquet Room. And to my utter surprise, the ENTIRE police force was there singing "Happy Birthday" to me as I entered. They had set up the room to celebrate my DOB. And, after setting it up and preparing completely, the chief had told the guys to come to my apartment and arrest me so that I wouldn't put up any hassles to come to my own party!!! I shall NEVER forget that as long as I have a memory.

I don't think too many others have been honored as such. Did this only happen once?

RTPCop --- Just read your message, so, I thought that I would comment. This DOB thing just happened once, but, I have had many, many experiences, most of them wonderful memories, and, of all of the experiences, this DOB thing stands out, mainly because that department knew me very well, and, knew that if they just told me to come to the police station on my Birthday, I probably would not have shown up. So, that is why they came to the apartment and "arrested" me. And, the guys who came to get me didn't even let on that anything unusual was taking place until we got to Headquarters. During the "booking in" both of them started to giggle, so, I began thinking that "something is up" - but, until we went to the banquet hall, they didn't say a word.

All right site readers, who love to read but don't write a thing, here is something else for you to read. In that same town that the DOB Surprise Party for me took place, the police department knew my shift that I worked where I was employed, and, that I had no vehicle, so, Swing Shift would stop by my apartment and take me to work. Night Shift would stop by where I worked, and take me home again. This they did as a matter of "routine" mainly due to me staunchily supporting the department. And, when neither shift could make it, they would call me to let me know. My employer, due to them bringing and taking me, asked me one time whether I was an Under Cover Investigator, and, I told him that he would never know because I would not tell him, and, of a certainty, the police wouldn't either. So, after that, the rest of the employees there, watched their conversations and actions very reservedly when I was in their presence.
