During the first part of my law enforcement career (within the first 6-8 months) I was investigating a report of a domestic. After investigating I determined that the male subject had committed the crime of Domestic Assault and placed him under arrest and placed him in the back seat of my patrol car. I then proceeded to find out how Mr. Suspect got to the victim's house since he was just a boyfriend and was not living there. The victim stated that she believes that his friend drove him there.

At this time I recalled having seen a vehicle parked down the street with its lights turned off (it was dark outside) but the vehicle appeared to be in reverse since the reverse lights were on. I requested that one of the newer deputies, who was on scene to assist, respond to see if he could locate a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle.

Upon locating the vehicle, which had backed off into a yard, the deputy attempted to contact the driver (who was also homeless whenever someone would tow his parked van from their property) who was passed out, had a revoked DL and when the deputy opened the door we found a baggie containing some MaryJ. The driver was obviously passed out from smoking his mind and was probably passed out when he backed into the yard.

After he woke up he was asked to step from the vehicle and then was patted down with nothing further located. The other Deputy asked him to have a seat in his patrol vehicle but did not bother to take his cell phone from him. After everything was processed at the scene we transported both subjects, 1 for Domestic Assault and 1 for Possession of MaryJ and DWR (for some reason he was not charged with DWI).

I was later advised by the Police Department dispatch, which was a different dispatch at the time, that they had received a call from the DWR subject stating that he needed a police Officer. When asked where he was at, he stated that he needed a Police Officer because he was in the back seat of a patrol car and needed help getting out!!! The things that people do when they have 'smoked it up'!! Needless to say, we had a laugh.

For some reason this subject still does not care for me and has told other officers since then that he is scared of me.
