My wife and I met while we were both working for a city PD. I got tired of the BS after 8 years and went to work for the HP. I was on the HP for 10 months when I had to kill an active shooter. My wife was on duty and could hear some of what was going on, but I was 40 miles out of town so she could only hear bits and pieces over the radio. After attempting CPR and making sure the intended victims were ok, I called my wife and told her I was uninjured. I told her to go home and my agency would have a Trooper there to help her ASAP, since I would be at the scene for awhile. My wife called her Sgt. and told him what had happened. She went on to tell him she would be taking some time off to be with me and she would let him know when she would back to work. Her Sgt. wrote her up for insubordination, because she "Told" him she was taking time off instead of "Asking." Can you believe that crap? I'm still with HP, my wife quit the dept. after that episode and now works for a different agency.
